About
Emily K Bolivar is an Oregon-based lighting designer and has been involved in her local performing arts community since 2014. Her recent design credits include Hansel and Gretel (Eugene Opera, 2024), Ride the Cyclone (Oregon Contemporary Theatre, 2024), and Sunday in the Park with George (Oregon State University, 2024).
Emily began her undergraduate degree at Lane Community College before transferring to the University of Oregon. She graduated with a degree in Theatre Arts and a focus in design, technology, and management. She had the opportunity to study theatre arts abroad in London, England through the University of Oregon and Global Education Oregon.
Currently, Emily works as a lighting designer and stage lighting consultant across Oregon. She is a journeyman and member with IATSE Local 675 where she primarily works as an electrician or projectionist. Emily also teaches technical theater at Lane Community College, as well as oversees guest events in the Ragozzino Performance Hall at LCC.
In 2019, Emily was awarded the Regional Award for Lighting Design (Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts region VII) for her work on Peter and the Starcatcher (LCC, 2018) , and is a three-time recipient of a Certificate of Merit for Lighting Design (Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts) for her work on The Birthday Party, The Oresteia Project, and Constant Revolution (LCC). Emily was previously awarded Outstanding Contributions to the Music, Dance, and Theatre Arts Department (Lane Community College), and graduated with Departmental Honors from the University of Oregon.
